Overview of the Global Mango Market 2018

Mangoes remain a popular product. Over the past ten years, the market has grown by 5% annually. Approximately 1.8 million tonnes of mangoes were traded worldwide last year. However, less than 4% of the global production is sold on the international fresh market. The season is currently coming to an end in a number of countries. Growers in both Ecuador and Australia are looking back positively on the season. For its part, Peru is now seeing its volume increase. South Africa has just started the harvest of the Tommy Atkins. There is little export potential for this, but the harvest of other varieties will also start in the coming weeks.

Global Overview of the Stone Fruit Market in 2018

European stone fruit growers finally seem to be making some money again this year. With the exception of Greece, production is much lower everywhere. This is resulting in remarkably good prices for Spanish stone fruit. South Africa is shipping its last plums to Europe, but there is also a lack of understanding among European customers about the high prices. In South Carolina, the harvest volume is back to the usual level after a very low production last year.

Mango madness fighting limited supply

Water scarcity and heat waves in India had a negative impact on the mango crop this season. With 40% less yield of Totapuri and 20% less yield of Alphonso compared to 2018, but continued high market demand, prices are anticipated to be significantly higher than the summer average (almost USD 200-300/MT more). If you're looking to source mango products, get in touch with us as soon as possible.  We’ll help you source the best quality mango and secure your order quantities at the best market prices.
